OBITUARY Ames Tribune June 3, 1983 Lillian La Velle
Lillian E. (Daughtery) La Velle, 87, Houston, Texas, former resident, died June 2. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Cecilila Church. Burial will be in the Ames Municipal Cemetery. Lillian E Daugherty was born Nov 6, 1895 in Pocahontas to James William and Rose Ann (Gombard) Daugherty. On Aug 9, 1921 he was married in Ames to Emmett La Velle. She has been a nurse at Mary Greeley Hospital for many years. She was Past Grand Regent of Catholic Daughters of America, past president of the Altar and Rosary Society, and a member of the Ames Women’s Club. Survivors include a son, Bob, Olympia Fields, Ill., two daughters Barbara Lester, Houston, Texas; and Betty Carby, Livingston, Texas; 15 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Emmett, in 1973. Visitation at Stevens Memorial Chapel will be held 5-9 p.m. Sunday with a scripture reading at 7:30 p.m.
