OBITUARY Ames Daily Tribune Mon. July 2, 1973 T.E. LaVelle died Sunday
T.E. LaVelle, 77, 1822 Douglas Ave., died Sunday morning (July 1, 1973) at Mary Greeley Hospital. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. from the new St. Cecilia’s Church with the Rev. Fr. Joseph Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery. Mr. LaVelle was born Sept 19, 1896 in Pontiac, Ill. He came to Ames in 1919 and was married to Lillian Daugherty Aug 9, 1921 in Ames. Mr. LaVelle was associated with the University Bank and Trust Co. for more than 50 years serving before his retirement as vice-president. A veteran of World War I, he belonged ot the American Legion, the Elks Lodge, and was past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. He was treasurer of the Ames School Board for many years, belonged to the National Assn. of Banks and Controllers and had his own insurance agency. Survivors include his wife, a son Robert LaVelle, Olympia Fields, Ill., two daughters Mrs. Betty Carby of Livingston, Tex., and Mrs. Barbara Lester of Houston, Tex., and a brother Vivian LaVelle, Fort Dodge. There will be a prayer service at 8 p.m. Monday from Stevens Memorial Chapel. A memorial fund has been established. Gifts may be left at the University Bank and Trust Co. Stevens Memorial Cahpel is in charge of funeral arrangements.
