Pioneer Zearing Woman Dies of Heart Attack

Zearing, Oct. 7 -- Funeral services for Mrs. Maria Tisdale, 84, who died suddenly of a heart attack at her home here Monday afternoon at 1:35, will be held at the Zearing Church of Christ on Wednesday at 2:30 p. m., and burial will be in the Zearing cemetery by the side of her husband, the late Julius P. Tisdale, who died Feb. 18, 1922.

Mrs. Tisdale, who had been a resident of northeastern Story county since coming to Story county with her parents when a girl of 13, was born at Blenheim, Ontario, Canada, Oct. 25, 1857, a daughter of Asa B. and Rachael Mead. Coming to Iowa, the family settled on a farm near Johnson's Grove in Richland township and there she grew to young womanhood and was married to Julius Tisdale on her 18th birthday, Oct. 25, 1875. Shortly afterwards, they located in Zearing, and this had since been her home.

She leaves four sons, namely Dennison A. Tisdale of Manning, Alvin James Tisdale of Union, his twin brother Elvin John Tisdale of Zearing and J. R. Tisdale of Clemons. She also leaves seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

The only surviving brother is W. T. Mead of Fernald and a sister, Mrs. Nancy Thorne, lives at Weiser, Idaho.

Mrs. Tisdale was a member of the Church of Christ, of the Daughters of Rebekahs and of the American Legion Auxilliary.
