C. P. VAN BUSKIRK
C. P. Van Buskirk, former Grant township farmer, died very suddenly at Mary Greeley hospital in Ames Friday at 1:30 a. m. from a heart attack suffered a few hours earlier.
On Sept. 16, 1897, he was married to Miss Minnie Consoer at Champaign, Ill. They lived there for several years then came on to Iowa, where he had since made his home.
Mr. Van Buskirk, whose wife died 18 years ago while the family was living in Grant township, moved to Ames 15 years ago. He was born in Champaign county, Ill., January 11, 1876.
Surviving are five sons, R. C. of Des Moines, Carl of Santa Rita, N. M., Walter of Ames, Pete of Nevada, Harry of Oakland, Calif.; four daughters, Iola and Mary of Marshfield, Wisc., Alma of Kansas City and Bertha Rae of Cedar Rapids. Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Childs, of Omaha, Neb., all of whom were present except Harry, who could not come. There are also 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and of the Townsend club of Ames. He was a kind father and a citizen of exemplary habits. For many years he was in the laundry at Ames, where he was a faithful worker.
Funeral services were held at St. Cecelia's Catholic church in Ames Monday morning at 9 o'clock in charge of the Rev. N. A. Steffen. Burial as in the Ames cemetery.
