Sudden Death of Frank Cook at Farm Near Zearing
Special to the Journal:
Zearing, Jan. 6 -- Funeral services for Frank Cook, 70, native son of Story county, who dropped dead at his farm home near Zearing late Saturday afternoon of a heart attack, will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. from the Evangelical church in Zearing. Burial will be made in the Johnson's Grove cemetery.Mr. Cook had gone out to look after some chores about 5 o'clock, and it was about a half-hour later that a member of the family found his body.
Born near Colo, Jan. 29, 1871, a son of Michael and Roseanna Cook, he lived in Story county all of his life and for 35 years upon the farm where he died.
He was married to Fanny Dean of Zearing, Feb. 20, 1895, at Nevada, who, with five children survives him.
The children are Ivan Cook of California; Gladys, now Mrs. Arthur Couser of Fernald; Ella, now Mrs. Dallas Feay of New York, and Dale and Gerald, both of Zearing.
He also leaves five grandchildren and three sisters. The sisters are Lizzie Smith of Ames, Emma Handsaker of Nevada and Mrs. Art Shaffer of State Center. A brother, Orville Cook, died in Nevada a few years ago.
