Former Colo Woman Died In Des Moines Tuesday
Mrs. Anna Hefley, 83, longtime Colo resident, died at the home of a son in Des Moines Tuesday forenoon, after a long illness, having been confined to her bed for the past 14 years.
Funeral rites will be held in Des Moines Thursday afternoon at 2:30 after which the funeral party will accompany the body to Colo, where there will be a brief service at the grave, after which she will be buried by the side of her husband the late William Hefley, who died about 20 years ago. It is expected that the funeral party will reach Colo between 4 and 4:30 p.m.
The deceased was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Sellers, pioneer residents of Colo, coming there as a child of four years, with the finally when they emigrated from Illinois.
She was married to William Hefley and the residence continued in Colo where the husband conducted a drug store for many years.
Since the death of her husband she had made her home in Des Moines and passed away after her long invalidism at the home of her son Thomas S. Hefley, where she had long made her home.
She leaves three sons and one daughter. They are Eugene Hefley of Champaign, Illinois, James Hefley of San Francisco, Calif., and T. S. Hefley of Des Moines at whose home she passed away. The daughter is Mrs. L. E. Ginter of California, who has been in Des Moines and assisted in the care of the mother for the past two months. A nephew, Aaron Hefley of near Zearing, had also been raised in her home.
She was a cousin of the late Mrs. Isaac Hawthorne of Nevada and was well known here, having visited the Hawthorne home many times.
