Funeral Services Held at Slater for Christ Peterson

Slater, March 16--Funeral services for Christ Peterson, 74, of Nevada, were held at the Riis funeral home. Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The services were in charge of Rev. E. R. Rorem of Bethlehem Lutheran church. Two duets, "My Faith Looks Up to Thee" and "Where He Leads Me," were sung by Mrs. M. S. Heggen and Mrs. A. L. Peterson.The pallbearers were: Will Houge, William Van Gundy, J. C. Ersland, George Houge and Joe Houge. Burial was made in the Slater cemetery.
Christ Peterson was born in Bergen, Norway, March, 1866 and died at the Story county home near Nevada, March 12, at the age of 74 years. His parents were Halstein and Anna Elizabeth Peterson. The family came to this country when he was five years old and they made their home on a farm near Slater, later moving into town. After the death of his parents he made his home at the county home. He died Tuesday after a very brief illness.
He is survived by two nieces, Mrs. Anna Clements of Des Moines and Mrs. William Van Gundy of Slater, also two nephews, Milford Houge of Des Moines and W. O. Houge of Slater.
Mrs. Anna Clements and Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Gibson and children of Des Moines, from out of town, attended the funeral.
