Sudden Death of Mrs. F. P. Smith Last Evening
Nevada people have been startled to learn of the very sudden death of Mrs. F. P. Smith, 67, at her country home just in the northeast edge of the city, at 8:45 Wednesday evening after a very brief illness.
Death was due to a blood clot resulting from a stroke a few short hours before.
She had been up and about her usual household duties during the day and was well when Mr. Smith drove down town on business during the middle of the afternoon.
When the husband returned home about 4 p.m. he found her on a couch in the living room in an unconscious condition. He at once summoned a physician and a nurse was soon at hand, but she passed away shortly after the arrival of relatives from Jewell.
Funeral services will be held at the Bishop Funeral home Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with her pastor Dr. C. D. Loose in charge. Burial will be in the family lot in the cemetery at Jewell.
Mrs. Smith, whose maiden name was Martha Rierson, was a native of Stavanger, Norway, where she was born 67 years ago last September 24. She came to America with her people as a girl and was united in marriage to Frank Smith March 3, 1895. They had their home first at Webster City, then Osceola, Aberdeen, S. D. and Britt, Iowa, before coming to Nevada in the summer of 1919. There are no children.
Mrs. Smith was a woman of industry and activity, both in the home and civic affairs, was a member of the Methodist church, the Rebekah lodge and Social Hour club.
