MRS. CHRISTIAN SANDNESS
Mrs. Christian Sandness, whose maiden name was Sarah Knutson, was laid to rest at the Fairview Cemetery on November 4, 1940. The funeral services were held from the Lewis Braland home and Immanuel Lutheran church, where Mrs. Sandness had long been a charter member and a faithful worshipper. The Revs. Heimarck and Paulsrud officiated.
The parents of Mrs. Sandness, Kettle and Anna Knutson, came to America from Norway in 1853, and settled on a farm near Capron, in Boone county, Ill. The Knutson family came to Iowa in 1865 and settled on a farm four miles northeast of Story City, where Mrs. Sandness grew to womanhood.

Mr. Sandness passed away in the year 1895, and Mrs. Sandness moved to Story City in 1907. For the past five years she has lived in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Braland, where she passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, Nov. 2, 1940, at the age of 85 years, 10 months and two days.
