J. P. JENSEN FUNERAL HELD HERE MONDAY
James P. Jensen passed away at the Iowa City hospital Friday, July 26, 1940, at the age of 59 years, 2 months, 27 days.
Funeral services were held at the Grace Evangelical church in Story City Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. G. L. Bergeman. Interment was made in Fairview cemetery.
James Patrick Jensen was born in Tarkio, Mo., May 1st, 1881, the son of Chris and Mary Jensen.
On July 4, 1903, he was united in marriage to Maud Davis at Kirkwood, Ill., where they lived for a time, later moving to Carbon, Ia., where they lived for ten years. Then they moved to South Dakota and made their home there for 16 years. The last two years he lived with his two sons, Lester of Story City, and Arnold of Alden.
He is survived by his sorrowing widow; his three sons, who are Lester of Story City, Arnold of Alden and Emery of White Lake, S. Dak.; his three daughters, Mrs. Mary Colvin of Sioux City, Mrs. Fern Jones of White Lake, S. Dak., and Ruth of Sioux City. Also one brother, Ernest, who resides in the state of Wyoming, and one sister, Mrs. Sara Cecil of Indianola, Neb.; 11 grandchildren and other relatives and friends. A son, Ernest, died in infancy.
Pallbearers were Herschel Williams, Clarence Johnson, Sheldon Williams, Guy E. Rod, Homer Jackson and Wm. Davis.
Out of town relatives and friends attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Howard Bernsmeier and daughter of Webster City; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Davis, William and Daisy Davis of Diagonal; Mr. and Mrs. Pete Peterson and sons, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Koop and son, and Harmon Barkema of Jewell; Mr. and Mrs. Kolm Evans, Mr. and Mrs. Dolliver Evans and sons, and Blanche Bernsmeier of Alden; Ralph Louis of Sioux City, Kenneth Olson of Ellsworth, and other friends.
