Obituary.

John Erickson, the adopted son of Mr. and Mrs. Thor Erickson, died Monday morning at his home in Story City after a brief illness caused from an abscess of the brain. His death was announced on Monday morning to the great surprise of all. He had been ill but two weeks and his case had not been considered serious until two days prior to his death. John was born in Des Moines, Mar. 25th, 1883 and died in Story City Oct. 20th, 1902, aged 19 yrs., 9 months, and 20 days.

When ten months old, he was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Thor Ericson and has since that time had one of the best homes that it was possible to give him. Johnnie has lived in Story City ever since, with the exception of two years, during which time he attended school at Quincy, Ill. For the past two years he has been employed; in Christensen & Henryson's dry goods store and will be greatly missed in that capacity. John's acquaintance were all friends and his death is deeply regretted. He leaves of his immediate relatives, a brother and sister, both of whom reside in Des Moines.

The flowers were exceptionally beautiful, both in colors and quantity. He was a member of the Story City band and as a last remembrance, aa lyre of cut flowers was contributed from his fellow musicians.

The funeral services were held yester day forenoon at 11 o'clock from the St. Petri church, Rev. Vangsness officiating. The remains were lad to rest in the Story City cemetery.
