DREADFUL SUICIDE.

Colorado Springs, Colo., October 22.--E. C. Ingledue, a wealthy druggist of Zearing, O., [should be Iowa], jumped through the third-story window of the Pittsburg hotel, Manitou, at 6:30 o'clock this morning and died four hours later from his injuries without having regained consciousness. Nearly every bone in his body was broken by the frightful plunge and his face and hands were badly cut by coming in contact with the broken glass. He did not stop to raise the sash, but jumped through sash and glass.

Ingledue came to Manitou last September for the benefit of his health. He did not recuperate as fast as expected and some time ago became very despondent telling a number of his friends that he did not believe he ever would be a strong man again.

During the past week he drank considerably in an effort to dispel the melancholia which was settling over him. In speaking to a friend last night he said that he had abandoned all hope of regaining his health and that a man had better be dead than sick all of the time. He referred touchingly to his wife and three children at Zearing and said that it was only for their sake he was keeping up.

it is presumed that he became more gloomy than ever during the night and this morning killed himself.

Quite a large number from here attended the funeral of E. C. Ingledue at Zearing last Sunday. Mr. Ingledue was a cousin of Mrs. M. P. Frisbiy, of this place. It is estimated that one thousand people viewed the remains. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. Force, the funeral being under the supervision of the Masons and Odd Fellows, of which orders the deceased was a member.
