OBITUARIES
JOHN JORSTEAD
John Jorgen Jorstead, son of Jens and Jorgine Jorstead, was born March 27, 1865 at Leland, Ill. The Jorstead family moved to Marengo, Ia. where he grew to manhood and later in 1884 the family moved to Story City. The later years of his life were spent in various parts of the country working at his trade as house painter and interior decorator.
For several years Mr. Jorstead had been ailing but it was not until the past month that his ailment became serious. He passed away Tuesday evening, Feb. 9, 1937, at 11 o'clock, at the Clinic hospital at Tracy, Minn.
Funeral services were held in Currie, Minn., at the home of his niece, Mrs. Chas. Klein. Services were conducted by Rev. Thos. Goodmondson of Slayton, and Doris Howard sang a solo. Pallbearers were Victor Walters, Donald Obman, Chas. Peschges, Godfrey Anderson, Bernard Knutson and Otto Rackness.
Of his immediate family only one sister, Mrs. Johanna Ford of Ottawa, Ill., survives him. His brothers, Lars A. Jorstead, died four years ago on the same date as John, Feb. 9.
The remains were brought to Story City on Saturday and were interred in the Jorstead family lot in Fairview cemetery.
