Former Roland Man Died in Washington

Osmund D. Nelson, 84, of Grafton, N.D., former Roland resident, died Thursday, Dec. 10, in Tacoma, Wash., where he had been spending the winter at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Gillespie.

Osmund Nelson was born Dec. 23, 1852, at Ottawa, Ill., but moved to Roland with his parents at an early age and was raised on the old Tarvestad place west of town. In 1880 he moved to the Red River valley and homesteaded in what is now Walsh county, N.D.

On March 23, 1883, he married Julia Thompson at Roland. She died Sept. 23, 1888. On Dec. 21, 1893, he married Hulda Nelson, who passed away on Jan. 18, 1935.
