SINGER ADVANCED TO CELESTIAL CHOIR

Ida Cecelia Marvick, daughter of Joseph and Anna Marvick, was born in Story City, Iowa, June 10, 1893, and passed away at her home in Marshall, Minn., October 23, 1934.

She was baptized, confirmed and married in the St. Petri Lutheran church in Story City. She spent her girlhood here, graduating from the local high school in 1910 and from the St. Olaf School of Music in 1914, after which she attended the New England Conservatory of Music at Boston for a year. During the next two years she kept house for her brother in Denver, Colo., and was soloist at a Congregational church.

At St. Olaf, she was a soloist for the concert band in their tour of 1912, and in the summer of 1913 she went to Europe with the St. Olaf Choir and sang in the ladies quartet. She has always loved the songs the quartet sang on this tour, "Still, Still With Thee" and "Come Ye Disconsolate."

She was united in marriage with Walter Henderson October 9, 1917. To this union were born five children, John, age 16, Pauline, 14, Eleanor, 15, McDonald, 11,and Carolyn, 3.

In November, 1824, they moved to Marshall, Minn., and have made their home there since that time.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband and five children, four sisters, Mrs. P. C. Donhowe, Mrs. Melburn Donhowe, Mrs. Alfred Jacobson, all of Story City, and Mrs. Edwin B. Roe of Stanley, Wis. Her father, mother and brother have preceded her in death.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. John Houser from the Federated church at Marshall Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, and the body was taken to Story City for interment. During the services a cousin, Mrs. Jeanette Henderson of Story City sang a favorite hymn of Mrs. Henderson's, "In Heaven Above."

Relatives and friends from away who attended the services were her four siters and their husbands, Mr. Henderson's sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Erickson of Randall; and another sister of Mr. Henderson's and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Art Kalseim of Jewell; Mr. and Mrs. Ludwig Roe and Mrs. Tomhave who is past president of P.E.O., all of Montevideo, Minn.

On Easter, 1932, Mr. and Mrs. Henderson united with First Congregational church of Marshall, where she had been a faithful and devoted member. The leading vocal soloist of Marshall, Mrs. Henderson gave untiringly and willingly of her vocal talent to all church and civic programs in a cheerful manner. She was president of Chapter AS, P.E.O., this year and took an active interest in its work. She will indeed be missed in her home church and community and her many friends extend sincere sympathy to the bereaved ones.
