Obituary of Mrs. Mary M. Heers
Mrs. Mary M. Heers, daughter of Wilson and Lucy Albertson, was born at Des Moines June 1, 1865, and passed away at her home in Story City, Ia., Dec. 14, 1934, death being due to asthma.
She was married to Harry E. Heers at Des Moines on February 23, 1888. To this union were born four children, namely: Arthur, Guy, Edith and Muriel. Arthur departed this life April 6, 1897, at the age of 8 years. Her husband passed away on June 21, 1914.
She came to Story City in February, 1888, and resided on the Heers farm until October, 1915, when she and her daughters move into town.
She leaves to mourn her passing her three children, her daughter-in-law, four grandsons and two sisters, besides a host of relatives and friends.
Private funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon, Dec. 17, at 2 o'clock, with Rev. L. J. U. Smay of Merrill in charge, assisted by Rev. C. L. Fuller of this place. Mrs. Stanton James and Ira Christenson sang two hymns, "Nearer, My God, to Thee," and "Beautiful Isle" with Margaret Fuller at the piano. Interment was at the Center cemetery west of town. The pallbearers were Hans Henriksen, Burnice Tressler, E. W. Harris, C. H. Hutchison, Peter Donhowe and J. C. Jessen.
Mrs. George Mean of North Branch, Minn., Miss Eva Albertson, Mr. and Mr.s John John Alber, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Gunson, Mr. and Mrs. C. Hutchings, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Alber, Roy and Henry Alber, all of Des Moines; Mrs. Geo. Powers and daughter Mae, and Mrs. Ray Powers of Carlisle, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Berry of Gilbert, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Jacobson of Stanhope, Mr. and Mrs. Mandus Teig and daughters of Jewell were among those who attended the funeral of Mrs. Mary Heers last week.
