W.M. JAMES IS DEAD IN OLD MEXICO
Old Time Story Citian Passed Away at Advanced Age
William M. James, brother of Carson James of this place, died at Merida, Yucatan, Mexico, Thursday, Reb. 8, following a brief period of declining health.
He was born at Covington, Kentucky, Feb. 4, 1851, so he had just passed his 83rd birthday at the time of his death. When only three years old, in 1854, he came to Iowa with his parents, who settled on the farm in Howard township, where he grew to manhood. He was active in local community affairs, being a member of Story City's first band and graduate of Ames college in 1876, following which he taught school before entering business. His wife died about six years ago.
Mr. James had been in the importing and exporting business in Mexico for many years. Funeral services were held at Merida we understand. In a short time we hope to have a complete obituary.
