Pioneer Howard Township Resident Died
Oliver Iverson, 80, respected pioneer citizen of the Roland community, died at his home there Tuesday evening after a lingering illness, altho his passing came as a surprise. Mr. Iverson had been up and around until within 24 hours of his death.
A native of Norway, Europe, he came to Iowa with his people when a lad of 7 years, lived in Clinton county for five years and then came to Story county and settled on the old Iverson homestead 2 1/2 miles southeast of Roland. That was his home until he moved to Roland 24 years ago with his sister, Mrs. Carrie Sandvold, who has long made a home for her brother.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, with service at the home at 1:30, followed by the funeral at 2;00 at Bergen church, with Rev. Sumstad in charge. Interment will be in the Roland cemetery.
