STORY CITY—Sam T. Farmer, 66, proprietor of the S. T. Farmer Canning company factory here, and also associated with canning factories in Mount Pleasant, Audubon, Cedar Rapids, West Liberty, Tipton and Monticello, died at his home here, about 3 a. m., Saturday. His death was due to a heart attack. He had been ill less than three days. Mr. Farmer was born near Winchester, Ky., May 18, 1867. He had been interested in food canning factories since the age of 21, and erected the Story City factory in 1918. He did not come here to live however until 1922. His other factories are being managed by his sons. Surviving are two sons, J. Le Roy of Cedar Rapids, and V. F. Farmer of Mount Pleasant; three daughters, Mrs. Leta M. Beane of Salt Lake City, Utah; Mrs. Devera Ellen Canny of Coral Gables, Fla., and Mrs. La Blanche Farmer Breyer of Story City; four sisters, Mrs. R. W. Updyke, Grand Island, Neb.; Mrs. Charles Crunt, Moberly, Mo.; Mrs. Rachel Osborn and Mrs. Martha Aaftman, both of Kansas City Mo. Funeral arrangements were being completed Saturday.
