MRS. ALETTE JORSTAD [SIC]

Alette Olson-Jorstad was born in Fredrikstad, Norway, March 26, 1852, and died at her home in Story City March 28, being thus two days over 81 years of age.

Her parents were Ole Olson and Oliana Hendriksen. She was married to Peder Olson in Fredrikstad March 2, 1870. He had two sons by a former marriage. On her birthday in 1872 she left her home in Norway to join her husband in Chicago, he having with the two sons immigrated to America the fall before.

The family lived in Chicago until the late fall of 1873, when they moved to Story City, which was their home until Mr. Olson's death in 1897 and Mrs. Jorstad's death last week. Following the death of her first husband Feb. 12, 1897, deceased was married to Lars Jorstad Dec. 4, 1897. Mr. Jorstad died Feb. 9, 1933.

To the first marriage twelve children were born, five of whom preceded the mother to the better land, all in infancy. The surviving children, including the two stepsons, are: John O. Olson of Seattle, Wash., R. M. Olson of Chicago, Paul A. Olson of Story City, Mary VanVranken of Burt, Lina Butcher of Garfield, Utah, Josie Knutson, Bertha Bartlett and Petra Malmanger of this place, and Clara Nelson of Bronson.

Funeral services were held last Saturday. Rev. Scarvie conducted the service in the church. The choir rendered a special number and the pastor, at the request of the deceased, sang "Den stor hvide Flok." The pallbearers were: L. J. Tjernagel, Andrew Owenson, S. S. Wierson, Jacob Vangness, E. E. Severeid and Ed. Charlson.

Among those from out of town present at the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Tom Mosness, Mrs. Ralph Morris, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. West, Mrs. Kenneth Cash, Lester Mosness, all of Ames; Mr. and Mrs. H. S. VanVranken and Raymond of Burt, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Nelson and youngest son of Bronson and Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Rosenberger of Estherville.
