From Story City Herald November 12, 1931 (page 2)

Mrs. Peter Skogerboe (nee Sarah Johnson) was born on the Andrew Johnson homestead two miles west of Roland, December 22, 1868, and died at Story City Nov. 4, 1931. She was at her death 62 years, 10 months and 13 days old.

Six years ago she contracted the dreaded disease, cancer. She sought medical aid at Rochester, Minn., where she underwent a severe operation. At first it seemed as if she was cured but the troublesome illness started up again. She also received medical treatment at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital at Des Moines, but with all medical care and efforts on the part of the family, the illness made a slow but steady progress and it became evident that only death could relieve her.

During these years of anxiety and suffering Mrs. Skogerboe was patient and never complained. She did bear the cross as a true and devout Christian. How true it is what her daughter said about her: "A beautiful Christian life has come to a close here but it continues still more beautiful above."
We all unite in this testimony that Mrs. Skogerboe was a true wife, a faithful mother devoted to her family and to her Savior.

For many years she was a faithful member of Elim church at Randall. Since she came to Story City she has been a faithful member of Bethel church. In both churches she will be missed a great deal at the services and the ladies aids. But most of all she will be missed by her dear ones who in her departure have suffered an irreparable loss, but this loss is modified by the assured hope that she is "Safe in the arms of Jesus"

On the 24th day of March, 1894, she was united in marriage to Peter Skogerboe. Rev. C. C. Holter was the officiating pastor. The first twelve years of her married life were spent on a farm near her birthplace. In 1908 the family moved on their own farm five miles northeast of Randall where they lived until 1928 when they moved to Story City.

Mrs. Skogerboe became the mother of eight children, one of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband and the following children: Mrs. Theodore Frandson, Mrs. Henry Matson, Mrs. Arthur Knutson, Ernest and Irene, all living in and near Story City; Sherman; Radcliffe; and Norman, Mylo, N. D.

She also leaves fourteen grandchildren and three brothers and a sister: Charlie Johnson, Marshalltown; John Johnson, Quarry; George Johnson, Story City; and Mrs. Chris Ullestad, Seattle, Wash. One sister, Mary, died in 1926.

Burial service were held Saturday afternoon at Bethel church in Story City. A large number of relatives and friends came to pay their respects to the departed. The body was laid to rest in the Story City cemetery. The pall bearers were J. O. Anderson, Nels Russell, Sam Jacobson, John T. Heggen, H. T. Hauge and M. J. Pearson.
