Obituary of Mrs. Jondall
Louise Stangeland Jondall was born June 10, 1904, in Stavanger, Norway, and passed away in Tucson, Arizona, Nov. 13, 1931, at the age of 27 years, 5 months and 3 days.
Mrs. Jondall was baptized and confirmed in Stavanger, Norway. She came to Jewell, Iowa, March, 1920, and made her home with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Rasmus Stangelenad.
On April 16, 1927, she was married to Fred Jondall in the Lutheran church at Ames by Rev. Lester Pearson. To this union was born one child, Betty Ann.
Mr. and Mrs. Jondall made their home in Ames until March, 1930, when they moved to a farm near Roland. In April, 1931, owing to her failing health they moved to Tucson, Arizona, hoping that the climate there would be of benefit. Many times during her illness she expressed a wish that she might be restored to health, but if God willed otherwise she was ready to die. In spite of the kindly ministrations of her husband and her sister-in-law, Hannah Jondall, who never lest her bedside during her long illness, her spirit took its flight to God who gave it.
She leaves to mourn her untimely death her devoted husband and three year old daughter, and one brother, Nickolai Stangeland of Jewell. Those surviving in Norway are her father and mother, also six brothers and four sisters and other relatives.
Funeral services were held on Nov. 21 at the Henderson Funeral Home at 1:30 o'clock, and at 2 o'clock in the St. Petri church of Story City. The text for Rev. W. B. Scarvie's sermon was "Jesus Wept," and contained many words of comfort to the bereaved ones. Rev. Lester Pearson of Ames offered prayer and a brief message of love and consolation. Mrs. Lester Henderson sang "One Sweetly Solemn Thought," at the home, and Albert Olson of Jewell sang, "Jesus Savior, Pilot Me" at the church. The pall bearers were Stewart Sidenstucker, Clarence Stangeland, Richland Stangeland, Albert Olson, Frederick Sather and Sam Sather.
Those from out of the community present at the services were Louis L. Friestad and John Friestad of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Wilcox of Ruthven, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Larson and daughter Myrtle of Emmetsburg, Mr. and Mrs. Aug. Brandt of Des Moines, George Campbell, A. R. Peel, Matie Jondall, Ethel Carpenter, Mable Sather, Anna Peterson, Alma Johnson, Alma Somme, Sylva and Julia Grinde Anna Gjerde, Julia Peterson, Lizzie Lund, Bertha Omundson, Knutson Hegland and Mrs. B. Holland, all of Ames, and many relatives and friends from Jewell.
