Emma McCord is dead at age 82, services Thurs.

Mrs. Emma McCord, 82, former matron of the Story County Home and a resident of Nevada, died at 2 a.m. Tuesday at the Story City Hospital.

Mrs. McCord, who has been living at Bethany Manor in Story City, has been a patient at the hospital there the past week.

Born September 13, 1886, she was the daughter of Mons and Anna Grove of Roland. She was married to Earl McCord and lived in Story County her entire life. She and her husband were, for years, custodians at the Story County Home at Nevada.

She was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church and the Order of Eastern Star.

Surviving are two sons, Harold of Denison and James of Glendora, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. John McDonald of Des Moines, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters and her husband, Earl, who died in 1947.

Friends may call at the Ryan Funeral Home until Thursday morning. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Memorial Lutheran Church with Pastor Harry Myklebust officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada Cemetery.
