Miss Marie Hovland died at her home in Des Moines Monday, at the age of 47 years. She was born at Etne, Norway, September 12, 1882.

Funeral services were held in Des Moines Tuesday with Rev. H. Rasmusson in charge, and the body was then brought here and a funeral service was held in Salem church yesterday with Rev. Olaf Holen in charge. Burial took place in the Roland cemetery.

Miss Hovland came to Roland from Norway in 1902, and later went to Des Moines. She is survived by her father and a sister in Norway, and two sisters and a brother in this country, Belle Hovland of Des Moines, Mrs. Wier Tjelmeland of Story City, and I.T. Hovland of Elmore, Minn.

Those from a distance in attendance at the funeral here were Mr. and Mrs. Rusvig and Miss Belle Hovland of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Austen Skromme of Kelley, Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Orthun of Maxwell, H. Fosse of Garden City, Mr. and Mrs. H. Tjelmeland of Radcliffe, Torres Nerem, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hovland, Mr. and Mrs. S. Sorem, Erick Holland, Tollef and Osmund Henderson, Mr. and Mrs. Wier Tjelmeland, of Story City, Mr. and Mrs. I. T. Hovland and son Tollef of Elmore, Minn., John Tjelmeland of Jewell, and Martin Tjelmeland of McCallsburg.
