HENRY LARSON
We made brief mention last week of the death of this young enlisted man, who passed away at the Ames college Thursday morning, Oct. 10.
Private Henry Larson was born Dec. 10th, 1893, near Story City and died at Ames, Oct. 10th, 1918, of that dread disease pneumonia. Henry lived and grew to manhood in the community in which he was born.
He heard the call for men to fight for his country and our country and answered it by enlisting and entered the service of the U. S. Army, Aug. 15th, 1918. He was sick a few days with bronchitis and had partially recovered from that when he took a sudden turn for the worse and it developed into pneumonia.
He died as he had lived in the Christian faith. He has gone to meet those of his family who have gone on before, his mother having died when he was but two years of age. The father cared for his family and raised them to manhood and womanhood. Henry was the youngest son of eight children. The father, mother, three sisters and one brother have gone on before. He was beloved by all who knew him, and will be missed by his many friends as well as by his immediate family.
He leaves three brothers to mourn his sad death, namely, Iver, Gustave and Lewis. None are more noble and true than the boys who have gone forth and offered their lives for their country.
