Gerhard Olson

Gerhard Olson, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Torris Olson, was born March 6, 1895, and died Aug. 14, 1918, at the age of 22 years, 9 months and 8 days. Death came to him very suddenly, being due to an accident while bathing the day before.

He was in the full vigor of young manhood, and his early demise comes with a particularly heavy hand upon his grieving parents and to his other relatives and friends. Besides his parents he left two sisters and one brother to mourn his loss, namely, Mrs. E. B. Benson of Randall, Mrs. Henry Skeie and Arnold of Story City.

The funeral services were held at the St. Petri church Friday afternoon in the presence of a large concourse of people. Among those from a distance who came to the funeral were Mr. A. C. Porter of Cambridge, Mr. and Mrs. C. Reinertson of Kelley, Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Erickson of Jewell, Mrs. R. Reinertson of Cambridge, and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Barber and Mrs. J. E. Barber of Des Moines.
