OBITUARY
Christian Olson
Christian Olson was born in Lier, Norway, March 1, 1843, and died in Story City, Oct. 1, 1918, aged 75 years, 7 months and 7 days. He was married to Dorthea Larson May 8, 1870. Two days after their marriage they left for America and came to Story City, where they lived for a half year, and then moved to Ames, where they resided for seven years, after which they moved back to Story City. Here they have resided until the time of his death.
Seven children were born to this union; they died in infancy and one, Sophia (Mrs. B. T. Holm), died at the age of twenty. The wife and three children, namely, Mrs. Mary Heggen of Ashland, Wis.; Mrs. Laura Nelson of Eureka, Kan.; and Oscar C. of Kenmare, N. D., survive to mourn the loss of a true and faithful husband and father.
Funeral services were held at the Immanuel church Friday afternoon, Rev. Heimarck officiating.
Christian Olson belonged to that sturdy, hard working class of pioneers to which America owes her tremendous development. For a number of years he was section foreman on the Northwestern and later owned a farm north of town. In his long life he made many friends who had learned to believe in his solid integrity and value him for his uprightness.
