OBITUARY

John O. Jacobson

John O. Jacobson was born at Sonnoe in Sovde, Norway, May 17, 1852 and died Aug. 15, 1918 at his home in Story City at the age of 66 years, 2 months and 27 days. He came to America in 1870 and settled in Kendall Co., Ill. He came to Iowa in 1873, was united in marriage to Randie Grove, April 27, 1875. To this union 6 children were born, 3 of whom are living.

He lived on a farm near Roland many years and later moved with his family to a farm in Hamilton Co., where he lived until 1902, when he moved to Story City and remained here until his death.

He leaves to mourn his departure his wife and three children, Lewis of Mora, Minn.; Martin of Sisseton, S. D.; and Josie of Story City; 3 grandchildren, step mother, 5 brothers and 4 sisters and a host of friends.

He had been failing health for many years, but he was always patient, never complained and was satisfied with God's will, whom he sought, and longed to go to the better land above.

The funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 18, 1918, at the Immanuel church, Rev. Heimarck officiating. His sons Lewis and Martin could not be present at the funeral. Martin's telegram had been delayed and reached his too late to come. Mr. Jacobson's brothers and sisters were all present at the funeral to pay their last respects to their kind and loving brother; they being as follows: Stepmother Mrs. Carrie Jacobson, Mrs. O. H. Olson, Mrs. Dave Beckley, Mrs. Ole Boe, Mrs. Ed Frette, John Sunnoe, Paul Jacobson, Henry Jacobson, Carl Jacobson and Albert Jacobson.
