From Story City Herald September 16, 1904 (page 5)

Hazel, the two year and eight months old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Heers, died last Sunday, after an illness of not more than a week. Mr. Heers was in St. Louis last week, but the child's condition became so serious that he was summoned by telegraph, and he reached home Saturday night, the evening before the child was taken. The funeral services were held at the home, Tuesday, a 1 o'clock p. m., Rev. McKay conducting the ceremony. The body was interred in the Center school house cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Heers an children have the sympathy of all in the loss of their little one, who, though brief was her span of life, had become a dear and important part of the home circle.
