FUNERAL OF MRS. SLAUGHTER.

The funeral of Mrs. F. L. Slaughter was held from Bergen's church in Roland Thursday afternoon at two o'clock, services conducted by Rev. G. Smedal, after which the remains were interred in the Roland cemetery by the side of a deceased sister. A mixed quartet consisting of Mrs. O. T. Thompson, Miss Severie Hanson, E. G. Schlanbusch and Elmer Hanson sang a beautiful song. Minnie Slaughter, whose maiden name was Hegland, was born near Roland, June 4, 1874. She died at the hospital at Hutchinson, Kan., about one hundred miles from her home at Kinsley, Kan., Monday forenoon, Nov. 15, 1909, age 35 years, 5 months and 11 days. She died following an operation during which a little son was born. The babe survived the mother less than a week.

She grew to womanhood in Roland, attending school at that place and Cedar Falls and was a teacher in the public schools there for several years.

She was united in marriage to Frank L. Slaughter, who was connected with the Roland schools for several years, in the fall of 1897. They made their home in Chicago for a year or more, when Mr. Slaughter studied law. A year later they moved to Story City, where Mr. Slaughter practiced law and they made their home for several years. From thee they moved in Kinsley, Kan., where they have lived.

Her life ended so suddenly that her friends can hardly realize that she has gone from this world. Hers was one of a true and loving Christian life. She leaves a husband and little baby boy, father, mother, seven sisters and one brother. The brothers and sisters are Mrs. H. E. Myrah, Mrs. O. S. Boyd and Miss Agnes Hegland, of Roland, Mrs. A. M. Henderson, of Story City, Mrs. F. E. Hanson, of Nevada, M. J. Hegland, of Roseau, Minn., Mrs. B. M. Rasmussen and Miss Sarah T. Hegland, of Stavanger, Norway, Europe. All were in attendance at the funeral with the exception of the two latter. Mr. Slaughter accompanied the remains to Roland and expects to spend some time at the Hegland home.

The floral decorations at the funeral were very beautiful and were expressive of the high esteem in which the deceased was held, both at Kinsley and at this place. The husband and all the relatives have the sincere sympathy of all in their time bereavement. A number of the friends and relatives of the deceased from Story City attended the funeral.
