LARS THORSON DIES SUDDENLY

Heart Stops Beating With Scarcely Any Warning Friday Forenoon.

Lars Thorson died at his home east of town last Friday afternoon, death coming very suddenly shortly after he had eaten dinner. He had been ailing for several months with a complication of kidney and heart trouble, but had been able to be up and around until the very last. Funeral services were held in the Immanuel church Monday afternoon, Rev. Heimarck officiating and an unusually large concourse of people being present.

OBITUARY

Lars Thorson was born in Norway, July 5, 1854, his parents being Thor and Anna Yttre Tungesvig. In 1874 he immigrated to America, coming at the age of 20 to Story city, where he worked as a hired man on various farms for several years.

In 1881 he married Waljer Wierson (Ostebo), and to this union were born nine children, six of whom passed to the better land in infancy or childhood, and were followed by the mother in 1896. Three children survive, namely, Tom, Wier and Anna.

In 1900 he was united to Margarette Skeie, who survives to mourn the loss of a devoted husband.

Soon after his first marriage, Mr. Thorson purchased the farm upon which he has since resided, and by frugality and hard work had attained to a good measure of prosperity. But the summons came and he, like all of us, had to bid farewell to the things most dear on earth.

The deceased was a quiet, home loving man and had gained the respect of those who knew him. To the surviving children and widow his death is a sad blow, but their loss is his gain! And he leaves them the memory of a kind parent and faithful husband.

He died Friday afternoon, Oct. 8, aged 55 years, 3 months and 3 days.
