OBITUARY
OLE BERGESON
Ole Bergeson was born in 1834 in Telemarken, Norway, and died Nov. 24, 1913, being almost 80 years of age at the time of his death. In 1853 he was united in marriage to Guro Lein. To this union four children were born of whom one daughter, Mrs. Chris Larson, preceded her father to the great beyond. His wife also had heeded the final summons some years before the husband. In 1860 he moved to Wisconsin. He joined the 15th Wisconsin regiment when the civil war broke out and served till the war was over. The children who are left to mourn the death of a kind father are Mrs. Andrew S. Johnson of this place, Andrew Bergeson of Minneapolis and Chris Bergeson of California. One sister, Mrs. H. Hanson, a niece, Mrs. Fred Johnson of Chicago at whose home Mr. Bergeson died Nov. 24, and five grandchildren also feel very keenly the loss of a kind brother, uncle and grandfather.
In this community where Mr. Bergeson had lived so long he was known for his straightforwardness and uniform kindness. His death removes from our midst another one of the civil war veterans, whose ranks have been almost entirely depleted, only a handful remaining to tell the story of that fateful time.
The funeral took place Saturday afternoon, Nov. 29, from the St. Petri church, Rev. Solum officiating. A large number of friends and relatives assembled to show their last tribute to the departed soldier.
