MRS. WATERWELL DEAD
Mrs. Martha Waterwell (Vatnebrond) died at the Swelland home in the north part of town last Thursday night after a brief illness with dysentery. She was about eighty years old. The funeral held in the Immanuel church, Monday, Rev. Heimarck preaching a touching sermon over the words, "Og den Fattige dode"--(And the Poor one died.) A large number of beautiful flowers bore eloquent evidence of the kind regards in which the aged lady was held by many in the congregation of which she had been a poor but very worthy member for a number of years.
Mrs. Waterwell had been a widow for many years, during most of the time having lived in Scott township and in Story City. Her husband died in Illinois. She was by nature a very kindly woman and it is said that she reduced herself to the point of penury by her liberality and contributions to charity. She was one who believed and acted on the belief that it is more blessed to give than to receive.
For some years she lived with her aged friend Mrs. Martha Teigland, until the latter moved up north to live with a daughter. Mrs. Waterwell then moved to the Swelland home, from which she was called to the heavenly mansions prepared for those who love God.
