OBITUARY
GEORGE WASHINGTON WIER
George Washington Wier was the oldest son of Sampson and Hattie Wier. He was born in Story City, Oct. 18, 1885, and died Dec. 29, 1913, at the age of 28 years, 2 month, and 11 days.
He was the first born in a family of four sons and two daughters, and is the first one of the family to pass from Time to Eternity.
All his life has been spent among us and the sympathy of the entire community goes out to his sorrowing relatives in this hour of their severe trial.
George grew to young manhood on the farm three miles northeast of Story City and in 1902 his parents moving to town, George and Lloyd entered the High School class of 1906, from which they graduated together in the latter year. With the exception of one year spent in Indiana, all his life was spent under the parental roof.
George was of a cheerful disposition, sociable and friendly to everybody; of sterling character, faithful and trustworthy. He was held in high regard by all who knew him.
His sudden death following so close upon that of Andrew C. Frandson has cast a heavy pall of gloom over this city and surrounding community, and these two fatalities have given the severest shock our town has thus far received.
