OBITUARY
MRS. MARGRETHA BOYD
Mrs. Magretha Boyd was born in Etne, Norway, April 17, 1831 and died at her home in Story City Dec. 1, 1913, at the ripe old age of 82 years, 7 months and 14 days.
She immigrated to America in 1847, and two years later was joined in wedlock to George Boyd in Illinois. The latter had come to America the same year she did. Ten years later she and her husband and family moved to Iowa. She was left a widow Dec. 29, 1893, the husband dying at their home near Randall.
Three children preceded her to the better land, namely, Betsy, George and Thomas. Five sons remain to mourn the death of a loving and much loved -------, namely, Lars, Oliver, -------, Erick and A----.
All except Oliver were present at the funeral, which was held in the St. Petri church a week following her death. Besides she left 14 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Mrs. Boyd was one of God's noble works. Kind and gentle, patient and helpful, she was well beloved by all who came into contact with her. Her memory will prove a benediction not only to her immediate family, but to a wide circle of friends as well.
SUBMITTER'S NOTE: According to her death record, her parents were Oliver Thompson and Anna Gronstad. However on her marriage record, "Margaret Tolifson" married George Boyd on 11 November 1849 in Grundy County, Illinois.
