FORMER RESIDENT OF ROLAND DIED AT AMES THURSDAY

B. L. Britson, a former resident of this place, died at his home at Ames last Thursday, from leakage of the heart. He had been in poor health for some time but had not been confined to his bed until Monday before his death.

Brit L. Britson was born in Odda, Hardanger, Norway on Mary 14, 1861, and in 1870 came with his parents, Lars and Martha Britson, to this country, settling in this community, where he grew to manhood. In 1894 he was united in marriage to Miss Ella Slice at Melbourne, Iowa, where they lived for several years, going from there to Lincoln< Neb. About twenty years ago they came to Roland, when Mr. Britson went into partnership with Joseph Twedt in the hardware business. Seventeen years ago they moved to Webster City where they lived until three years ago when the moved to Ames.

He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, Mrs. Ella Britson, two sons, Rexford of Los Angeles, California and Floyd of Mobridge, S.D. and one daughter, Avis, who is staying at home.

Funeral services were held from the Adams funeral home at Ames at 1:30 o'clock on Monday afternoon, and from Bergen Lutheran church at Roland at 3 o'clock, Rev. M. O. Sumstad preaching the sermon. Interment took place in the Roland cemetery.

Among those from a distance who were in attendance at the funeral were J. A. Bateman, Arley Gardner and Gus Zimmerlin of Webster City, Mr. and Mrs. Hilgendorf, Miss Armstrong and Miss Snyder of Ames and a number of friends of the family from Melbourne.
