Obituary

John Marsden was born in Lankshire, England, Nov. 9, 1824, and died at Thornburg, Ia., December 19, 1916, aged 92 years, 1 month, 10 days.

In 1867 Mr. Marsden was united in marriage to Mrs. Margaret Fairley, whose maiden name was Margaret Cullen. To this union was born one daughter, Mrs. Mackey and two sons, Wm. Marsden of Manly and Peter Marsden of Gilbert. Mrs. Marsden died Jan. 6, 1915.

The family moved to Boone Co. in 1876 and later to Gilbert. Mr. Marsden was a member of the church of England and never united with a church in this country. He loved to read the scriptures and in his last days would quote whole chapters from the word.
