Chas. Wier Found Dead in His Home Saturday

The people of Story City and community were deeply shocked and grieved late Saturday afternoon when it was heard that Charles F. Wier had been found dead at his home in the north of Story City.

Mr. Wier lived alone in a small house on the same lot on which his son lived and he had been seen uptown the evening before in his usual health. He was not seen Saturday but this occasioned no surprise and when his son went over in the evening he found his father cold in death. A physician who examined the body said that the man had been dead for probably twelve hours. Death was due to a stroke of apoplexy.

Mr. Wier was the son of one of the pioneer families of that community, being the son of the late Captain F. Wier and wife. He was a real pioneer of the county, having come here when a lad of two years with his parents from Oswego, N.Y. His father, Captain F. Wier passed away a number of years ago but the aged mother is still living on the old homestead.

Funeral services were held yesterday at the Grace church in Story City and interment was made in the Fairview cemetery.
