YOUNG MAN LAID TO REST
Walter Nelson Passed Away After a Lingering Illness Funeral Services Held Saturday and Many Pay Last Respects.
Walter Benammi Nelson was born at Roland December 14, 1896, and passed away at his home west of town Thursday, September 13, 1923, thereby being in the flower of manhood at the age of 26 years, 8 months and 29 days. He had been in ill health for the past half year and death came as a relief for his suffering.
On February 18, 1920, he was united in marriage to Sylvia Christian and to this union two children were born who survive him, Julette Berdella and Thelma Cecilia. He leaves besides his wife and children, his father, K. T. B. Nelson, three sisters, Mrs. B. J. Solyst of this place, Mrs. T. G. Pasco of New Britain, Conn., Mrs. T. A. Goodmanson of Lake Benton, Minn., and one brother, Eli N. Nelson of this place, also numerous other relatives who mourn his death. His mother preceded him in death, having passed away some years ago.
Funeral services were conducted from Bergen Lutheran church Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. M. O. Sumstad officiating. The text of the sermon was the sixteenth verse of the sixteenth chapter of the Gospel of St. John, "A little while and ye shall not see me and again a little while and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father." It was a most touching sermon and indeed it was but a little while the departed was here among his friends and dear ones and who keenly feel their loss in this worthy son, kind brother, faithful husband and true friend. Walter Nelson passed away quietly trusting in his Lord. Interment was made in the Roland Cemetery.
