MYRTLE DURBY LAID TO REST

Classmates Pay Respects to Deceased Friend, Myrtle Durby, at Her Funeral Held Tuesday Afternoon.

Miss Myrtle Pearl Durby was born April 17, 1906, to Mr. and Mrs. Peder Durby and passed away at her home five miles south of town, on Friday evening, August 31, thereby being 17 years, 4 months and 14 days of age.

She was baptized and confirmed in her church, the Bergen Lutheran, of which her parents were faithful members, which also she was. She was confirmed by the present pastor, Rev. M. O. Sumstad, who also conducted the funeral services that were held Tuesday afternoon from Bergen church following a short service at the home. The class of which she was a member in the Roland high school were all present with the exception of two who were unable to be there, and who paid their special respect by attending in a body. A large number of people were present and the large floral offerings bore tribute to the deep sympathy which stirred in the hearts of relatives and friends of the bereaved family.

She graduated from Roland high schools with the class of 1923, but on account of having a spell of illness previous to graduation was unable to be present at the graduation exercises. Since her illness this spring she has been in frail health, but until the last two weeks before her death she had been able to be up. Myrtle Durby suffered greatly at times but was a patient sufferer and died quietly trusting in her Lord to take her to her Heavenly Home. The cause of her death was rheumatism and a very weak heart.

She leaves to mourn her death her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peder Durby and six sisters and six brothers all of whom were present at the funeral. They are as follows: Mrs. Albert Olson, Blue Earth, Minn.; Palmer Durby of Woden, Mrs. James Sandsgaard of Story City, Mrs. Harvey Nassen, Archie, Enoch, Lawrence, Ruth, Bernice, Joseph, Palma and Benjamin of this place. She also leaves a large host of friends, for she was a girl who knew not an enemy, and to know her was to love her.
