D. L. SELVOG LAID TO REST

Former Aged Resident of This Place, Now Living Near Garden City, Died Last Week. Burial from Salem Church.

Daniel Selvog was born in Fayen, Finno Prestegjeld, Norway, March 12, 1840, to Lars Larsen Selvog and Inger Swensdatter Selvog. He came to America on July 9, 1870, and settled in Lee county, Illinois. Here he was married to Magla Varland in the fall of the same year. They lived in Illinois until 1897 when the moved to Iowa and settled on a farm six miles northeast of Roland which they sold three years later. From this farm they moved to the E. K. Erickson farm three miles northeast of town and lived there for 22 years. In the spring of 1922, he moved to a farm southeast of Garden City and here he was living at the time of his death.

Mrs. Selvog preceded here husband in death having died seven years ago. Mr. Selvog was taken ill on Friday, July 6, and his suffering was very short, only lasting a few days. He died on July 9, being at the time of his death 83 years, 3 months and 28 days. He leaves to mourn his death three children, Mary Martin and Eli who were all with him during his sickness and death. He also leaves two granddaughters, Mabel Selvog and Mrs. Syris Frette and one great grandson, Dale Frette; and one brother, Lars Larson in Vasoe, Norway, and one sister, Mrs. Bertha Varland of Radcliffe, beside numerous nephews and other friends and relatives.

Funeral services were held at Salem Lutheran Church, Wednesday afternoon, July 11, after a short service at the home, and interment took place in the Roland Cemetery, where he was laid beside his wife.
