CHILD DIES OF SCARLET FEVER

Four Year Old Son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hagen Victim of Scarlet Fever. Funeral Services Held Tuesday.

Little Jerry Hagen, the four-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hagen, passed away at their home here Monday evening about eight o'clock from scarlet fever. For the past two weeks he had not been feeling well and a week ago last Saturday was taken sick abed and from Monday on he became worse and worse for each day, on Friday becoming unconscious, remaining in that condition until death. About half an hour before death he suffered immeasurably from convulsions. Hopes were held for his recovery until the second convulsion, when the physician knew the end was near.

Harlan Jerrold was born April 25, 1919, to Mr. and Mrs. John Hagen and passed away July 16, 1923, thereby being at the time of his death, four years and three months old. He leaves to mourn his death, his parents, and one brother, Orville, and four sisters, Erma, Gertrude, Margaret and infant sister Betty, besides other relatives and friends. A sister, Hazel, preceded her brother to their heavenly home four years ago, being two years of age, dying from bronchial pneumonia. Little Jerry had been speaking the last month of his journey to see sister Hazel in heaven and we trust he has come to her now.

Owing to the quarantine, the funeral services were held outside the home and many friends were present to show their sympathy for the bereaved family. Music was furnished by the Salem mixed quartet, who sang "There Is a Home for Little Children," and "Abide with Me." Rev. J. N. Sandven then gave the sermon and spoke comforting words to the mourning family. The sympathy of the community is hereby extended to them.
