AGED WOMAN PASSES AWAY

Mrs. Tom Mason Buried Last Saturday at Story City. Many Present to Pay Last Respects.

The funeral services for the late Mrs. Tom Mason were held at the Immanuel church at Story City last Saturday at 2 o'clock following a short service at the C. H. Risdal home at 12:30. Rev. T. T. Heimarck conducted the services and Rev. M. O. Sumstad also spoke a few words to the bereaved family. Interment took place at the cemetery in Story City. There were large numbers of friends and relatives to pay their last respects to the woman who was loved by all who knew her.

Julia Olson was born Sept. 18, 1850, at Skaanevig, Norway, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Chris Risdal, on Wednesday, June 27, being at the time of her death 72 years and nine months old.

She came to America with her parents when she was seven years of age, settling in Lisbon, Ill. She later moved to Benton county, Iowa, and here she was united in marriage to Tom Mason on January 27, 1872. They lived in Benton county until the year 1901, when they moved to Story City where they lived until last September. They then decided that she was too frail to keep a house for herself so they have since then made their home with their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Cris Risdal. Seven children were born to them, all but one, namely Martin, still living, he having died at the age of six.

She leaves to mourn her death besides her husband, six children: William Mason, Madison, Minn.; Mrs. Ann Ellingson, Norway, Iowa; Mrs. Bertha Dyrland of Ames; Mrs. Linda and Mrs. Marie Risdal, both of Roland, and Mrs. Minnie Sutton of Des Moines, whom she has raised as her own child since he was three years old. She also leaves 30 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, and three sisters living namely, Mrs. Peterson of Vinton, Mrs. Rystad of Rembrandt, and Mrs. Halvorson of Lisbon, N.D., and one brother, John Olson of Linn Grove, besides a host of other relatives and friends.

Those from a distance who attended the funeral of Mrs. Tom Mason last Saturday at Story City were: Wm. Mason, Madison, Minn.; Messrs. and Mesdames Elias Ellingson, Lewis Dyrland, Gidvert Dyrland and Roy Rossdale of Norway, Iowa, Mrs. Bertha Dyrland and family and Mr. and Mrs. Gibson of Ames, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Sutton and Milton Olson of Des Moines, Mrs. Malinda Rystad, Rembrandt, Iowa; John Olson, Linn Grove; Wm.
