OBITUARY

MRS. OMEN ENDERSON

Belinda Enderson was born August 7, 1863 of parents Jacob Erickson Svinelee and Ingeborg Okland Svinelee [sic], Stavanger, Norway.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Skjolds Church. Her parents had been spiritually awakened through spiritual emphasis of Hans Nelson Hauge, hence the Jacob Svinlee [sic] home, gave much emphasis to family devotions, singing hymns and individual participation in prayer. Under this home influence Belinda grew to love her Savior and to be a part of the Christian youth work, Lars Ofsedal was her pastor.

There was also the opposite influence. The worldly crowd was also pressing the young people to follow them, and for several years Belinda, was in this crowd and though she was never happy, she never had courage to leave them and go back to the close fellowship of her Savior. At Christmas, 1884, the family received work that Thorbjorn, her brother, had been washed over-board from a fishing vessel, this means brought Belinda to surrender to the Spirit's call to Christ, her Savior, from which time she continued to seek God's guidance in Word, Sacrament and fellowship of prayer.

In 1885 she was united in marriage to Omen Enderson and their honey-moon trip was on a slow ship to America. They first settled in New Sharon, later moved to farm south and west of Jewell, then moved to farm five miles south and east of Stanhope, where they resided until 1918 then they moved to Story City, Iowa. Omen died in 1926.

There were eleven children in the Enderson family: Isabelle (Mrs. Ole Madson), Story City; Andrew, Story City; Bertha (Mrs. David Hanson), Roland; Jacob, died in infancy; Thomas, Story City; Ovedia died in 1926; Sara (Mrs. Franklin Paulson), Ames; Julia, (Mrs. Myron Swenson), Story City; Jacob, Whalen, Minn.; Isaac, Blue Earth, Minn.; Gladys, died in infancy.

Belinda moved to the Story City Sunset Home in 957, where she at once felt at home, and was so continually thankful to God for both the fellowship in the home and the spiritual guidance of superintendents and pastors. She enjoyed to have visitors, and appreciated so much that friends and neighbors stopped to see her.

She died early January 4, being of the age of 99 years and nearly five months. Tired, and so willing to get to sleep into the arms of her Savior.

She leaves to mourn her departure eight children, 39 grand shildren, 97 great grand children and 6 great great grand children, a number of relatives, the greater part being in Norway.

Funeral services were Tuesday, 2 p. m., at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Story City, the Rev. Harold T. Masted officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Johnson sang a duet, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," Louise Olson was organist.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Donald Hanson, Tilford Enderson, Orlin Enderson, Ardis Swenson, Alvin Madsen and Donald Paulson.

Interment was at the Story City Municipal Cemetery.
