GEORGE MACKEY WAS NATIVE OF BOONE CO.

George Mackey, son of Sebastian and Susan Mackey, was born in Boone county, Iowa, in July, 1873, being at the time of his death 56 years and 19 days old.

He was united in marriage to Jean Agnes Kennedy, January 3, 1900. To this union two sons were born, Glen and Samuel. Two brothers and his parents preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, two sons, two grandsons, two sisters, Mrs. Nora Johnson of Story City and Mrs. Stoll of near Ontario, three brothers, Ed and Cap. Mackey of Boone and John Mackey of Harrison township, besides a number of other relatives.

George Mackey passed away at the Story City hospital Tuesday evening at 8 o'clock, August 6, 1929, from an infection in his leg.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the home 2 miles northwest of Story City, and at the Mackey church at 2 o'clock, in charge of Rev. Harned of Des Moines, who was pastor of the Mackey church 37 years ago. A quartet from Story City composted of Mrs. Lester Henderson, Miss Alvena Holm and Messrs. Larson and Helvig sang "One Sweet Solemn Thought," and "Heaven Is My Home." Miss Ethel Olson of Story City accompanied them. Mrs. Harry Richards played "Rock of Ages" and "Nearer My God to Thee." The pall bearers were Peter Donhowe and Carl Ristvedt of Story City, Iver Ingebritson, Charles Tressler, Frank Nelson and George Wheeler. Burial was made at Fairview cemetery, Story City.
