Former Ames Woman Dies In East

Glendora Bryant Wallis, wife of Rolland S. Wallis, both formerly of Ames and who have been residing at 510 Arlington Road, Camp Hill, Pa., died Monday, Nov. 19 at the Harrisburg hospital, in Harrisburg, Pa., following an illness of nearly two months.

Mrs. Wallis was born in Slater, Ia., on Dec. 18, 1887. She attended and was graduated from the Ames High school, and became a member of the class of 1908 at Iowa State college.

In 1909 she married Rolland S. Wallis, also of Ames and a member of the class of 1907, Iowa State college, following which they resided for part of a year in St. Louis. The following year they returned to Ames, where Mr. Wallis for some five years was a member of the civil engineering faculty. After two years at Rolla, Mo., where Mr. Wallis was a member of School of Mines teaching staff, they again returned to Ames, where for some years Mr. Wallis was a member of the Engineering Extension service.

Mrs. Wallis was active in the First Methodist church of Ames, as well as in local women's organizations. She was a charter member and the first president of Tuesday Club, as well as a member of the Faculty Women's Club. She became a member of the D. A. R. and has been identified with local chapters in Laurence, kan., as well as in Philadelphia and Harrisburg, Pa.

She is survived by her husband, director of research and statistics with Pennsylvania's Bureau of Unemployment Compensation; her only son, Rolland B. Wallis, who is a mechanical engineer with General Motors Corp, residing in Chicago; a granddaughter, Mary Jo Wallis, of Chicago; her sister, Mrs. F. B. (Mary Bryant) Farnsworth, of Wadsworth, Ohio; her brother, William E. Bryant, of Corona, Calif.; and her brother, Herbert D. Bryant, of Orange, Calif.

Her funeral services are to be held in Harrisburg, Pa., on the afternoon of Friday, Nov. 23, at the Grace Methodist Church.
