Obituary of Mrs. Holland

Mrs. Martha Holland was born in Saude Ryfylke, Norway, Europe, April 4, 1845, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harry K. Henderson near Story City, Friday, July 17, 1925, at 10 o'clock in the forenoon, being 80 years, three months and 13 days old at the time of her death.

Her parents' names were Ole and Madli Knutson Teig.

She came to America in July 1871, settling with her parents near Story City.

In the spring of 1874 she was united in marriage to Paul J. Holland. They lived on various farms in the vicinity of Roland and Story City for several years and settled on the Holland homestead in the spring of 1884. Mr. Holland died in 1913 and Mrs. Holland lived on the homestead until 1919, when she moved to the home of her daughter. Seven children were born to this union. One daughter who died in infancy. Those living are John P. Holland, Leonard, N. D.; Mrs. Austen Antinson, Lake Crystal, Minn.; Ole P. Holland, Dilke, Sask., Canada; Martin O. Holland, McCallsburg, Iowa; Carl J. Holland, Story City; Mrs. Harry K. Henderson, Story City. She also leaves 13 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held from the St. Petri church at Story City, Monday, Rev. J. Andersen officiating. Interment was made in the Story City cemetery. The Pallbearers were Weir Erickson, Swen Skeie, Jonas Christian, James K. Johnson, Ole Thorsbakken and Osmund Vangness.

All her children were present at the funeral services with the exception of Ole of Dilke, Sask., Canada, who was unable to come.

She had been a patient sufferer for a number of years, being confined to her bed for almost a year.

She was a good neighbor and friend to all that knew her and a faithful reader of her Bible, and my she rest safe in the arms of Jesus.

And the trials on earth are ended
And this path no more she trod
But may her name be written
Safe in Heaven with God.
