Obituary of A. H. Jacobson
Andrew H. Jacobson was born at Hougland, Os prestejaeld, Norway, February 20, 1857, and died at the Story City hospital, August 4, 1925, at the age of 68 years, 5 months and 15 days.
He came to America with his parents in 1876. His parents, who were Ole and Jertro Jacobson, settled on a farm near Gilbert.
September 28, 1883, he was united in marriage to Sara Thompson and settled on a farm three and one-half miles west of Story City. Six children were born to this union, three dying in infancy and Thomas dying while a young man.
In 1895 he was left a widower by the death of his first wife and eight years later, on Nov. 12, 1903, he was married to Synneva Johnson. Two children were born to this union. They lived on the farm until 1908 when they moved to Story City, where they have lived ever since.
Funeral services were held in the St. Petri church August 7, Rev. J. N. Andersen officiating and Rev. T. T. Heimarck speaking a few words in the Norwegian language. The remains were interred at the Story City cemetery. The pallbearers were Ole Haugland, Martin Townswick, L. C. Kahrs, Torris Olson, B. B. Brattebo and Henry Hovland.
Mr. Jacobson was a well known and respected citizen. He was trustee of the St. Petri church for 33 years and with his death the church loses a conscientious and staunch friend. He will be missed especially by his family. His last days were blessed with every thing loving hands could do.
