Services Held for Elmer Richardson

On Friday afternoon, May 26, at 2 p.m., funeral services for Elmer J. Richardson were held at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Delivering the sermon and reading the obituary was Rev. Virtus Young of Memorial Lutheran Church in Ames. Assisting him by reading the Scriptures and prayers was Rev. John Ness, pastor of Bethlehem Church.

Mrs. Alvin Lund was the organist. Lester Moore sang "How Great Thou Art" and congregation sang "What a Friend We Have in Jesus."

Pallbearers were Wendell Madaris, Wilbur Thornwall, Rufus Erickson, Arnold Meyer, Roger Floden and Warren Young.

Interment was made in the Bethany Cemetery at Kelley.

Obituary

Elmer Jennings Richardson, son of the late John and Belle Richardson was born on July 10, 1907 at Kelley, Ia.

He passed away unexpectedly Wednesday morning, May 24, 1972, at his home in Slater.

He was united in marriage to Clara Wedel in Kansas City.

Mr. Richardson was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church.

He owned and operated the Richardson Trucking Co. and Richardson Heating and Motorama Co.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Thomas and Richard; and one sister, Mathilda.

Surviving are his wife, Clara; a daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gene (Idelles) Johnson; a son, Don Neil; a granddaughter, Christina Ann Johnson, all of Des Moines; two brothers, Martin of Ames and Oliver of Slater; a foster sister, Mrs. Gladys Higgins of Hamilton, Ill.; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
