GERALD E. GORD

CAMBRIDGE--Funeral services were held from the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cambridge on Thursday, May 1 for A2C Gerald E. Gord, who was killed in an auto accident at Leon, France, April 21. The Rev. T. J. Alvestad conducted the service.

Mrs. Harry Cairns sang two hymns, "Have Thine Own Way" and "Nearer My God To Thee," accompanied by Mrs. D. E. Ryerson at the organ.

Casket bearers were Al McNary, Harold Christopherson, Raymond Kahler, John Scott, Jerald Weatherman and Wayne Heintz.

Military services were conducted at the graveside by the Slater and Cambridge American Legion Posts. Burial was in the Cambridge cemetery.

Gerald E. Gord was born at Slater, Iowa Feb. q5, 1935 and after the family moved to Cambridge Gerald was confirmed at the Nazareth Lutheran church by the Rev. Harry Stoutland, May 28, 1950. After graduating from the Cambridge High School in May 1953 he enlisted in the U.S. Army.

His father, Charles Gord, Sr. died at Cambridge May 18, 1932.

Besides his mother, he is survived by three brothers, Charles, Jr. of Randolph AFB, Texas, Donald W. of Las Cruces, New Mexico and Richard A. of Belleville, Ill.
